"Lujano has yet to reach the winners’ enclosure this year, but he gave encouragement on return from a short break when fourth in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time"

Although all of today's NH cards have unfortunately been lost courtesy of the torrid recent weather, we still have all-weather racing to keep us occupied. Here are three selections-one from each of today's meetings...

Kempton's replacement card contains the highlight of the day in the 7f handicap at 15.40, and Mia's Boy appeals as the one to side with. The six-year-old has been a very reliable performer through his career, consistently holding his form in top handicap/minor pattern company. A plethora of placed efforts, most of which came in listed or conditions races, left Mia's Boy's handicap mark more or less stationary for two years, but following a period in which he was struggling for form (this summer/autumn), the handicapper dropped his mark to 99. He gave very positive signs when fourth at Wolverhampton last time, faring best of those held up in a race run at a muddling pace, and also encountering some traffic problems in the straight before finishing well. Arteus should ensure that there is pace in the race today at what is a minimum trip for Mia's Boy, and the son of Pivotal is worth supporting to belatedly get off the mark for the year.

Red Jade looks worth chancing on his fibresand debut in the 15.25 at Southwell. The Richard Fahey-trained gelding has generally run with credit since winning a 1¼m Doncaster handicap in March, and is probably best forgiven a poor effort in the November handicap last time. He goes well on soft ground and could well take to fibresand, so is worth an interest with his yard in such good form.

Lujano has yet to reach the winners' enclosure this year, but he gave encouragement on return from a short break when fourth in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time, looking likely to come on for the run. His connections are applying blinkers for the first time, and he is clearly well handicapped on his best form having fallen 14 lb since his last run in 2009. All in all, Lujano may well be able to reverse form with Cyril The Squirrel and Join Up (both of whom finished ahead of him last time) in the 20.20 at Wolverhampton today.

Recommendations:
Back Mia's Boy@ 6 Kempton 15.40
Back Red Jade @ 5.7 Southwell 15.25
Back Lujano @ 5.3 Wolverhampton 20.20
