Three selections for this afternoon's racing...

The Howard Johnson-trained seven-year-old Diamond Frontier was progressing well at the end of last season, and he can make a winning return in the 14:25 at Carlisle. The son of Sadler's Wells registered a pair of comfortable victories in heavy-ground novice chases on his latest two outings, the most recent of which came at this track in April. He is sure to act well on the testing ground at the Cumbria track, and he has gone well fresh in the past, so will hopefully be able to continue his progress today in spite of the seven-month absence. He certainly looks the type to make further improvement over fences, and is worth backing to make a winning start in handicaps today.

Hey Big Spender developed into a smart chaser last season, winning twice in novice company, including on soft going at Cheltenham in January. Colin Tizzard's gelding is a bold jumper, and his mishaps in a pair of top novice chases during the spring are probably best overlooked given his proficient jumping displays previously. He may well have more to offer, and holds strong claims in the 15:00 at Carlisle.

Gentlemen Is Back is a strong favourite in the 15:10 at Wolverhampton today, and he looks worth his place at the head of the market on the strength of his C&D maiden win in September. The John Gosden-trained juvenile had made an encouraging debut at Kempton a few weeks earlier, and he duly improved significantly to score at the second time of asking, doing well to hold on given how hard he pulled in the early stages. The form of that maiden looks particularly strong by Wolverhampton's standards, and Gentleman Is Back has been found a weak nursery today. He probably won't need to find improvement given his opposition, and ought to justify odds-on favouritism.
