"We see no obvious reason why Atasari will reverse the form, and many of the other runners have questions to answer regarding the trip, some likely to find it too short, and others too far.."

Here are three for the start of the Craven Meeting on Wednesday as racing returns to Newmarket.

Barry Hills has taken three of the last five renewals of the opening Alex Scott Maiden and his Esaar (1.50) can get us off to a winning start. It's a typically hot maiden, with three of the runners still holding Guineas entries, including Esaar, who travelled best of all when placed in similarly well-contested races at Newbury and here last season. Already having run to a useful level of form, Esaar seems sure to do even better.

The latest renewal of the Listed European Free Handicap looks as competitive as ever, but we'll take a chance on Fremont (3.35), one of two runners in the race from the flying Richard Hannon yard. A maiden winner at Goodwood on his debut, Fremont signed off his two-year-old campaign with an impressive success over this trip at Salisbury, sprinting away from some fairly useful rivals under hands and heels. Fremont's brother Asset had a good record fresh and, as we've seen already this week, runners from his yard are rarely found wanting first time up.

The Rockfel over course and distance could hold the key to the first British Group race of the season the Nell Gwyn, and we fancy Music Show (4.10) and Atasari, 1-2 back in October, to fill the same places. Both fillies left the impression they'd train on well, and, though Music Show carries a 3-lb penalty for her success, we see no obvious reason why Atasari will reverse the form, and many of the other runners have questions to answer regarding the trip, some likely to find it too short, and others too far.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Back to win on Wednesday at Newmarket:

1.50 Esaar
3.35 Fremont
4.10 Music Show
