"Flower Haven pulled clear with a lightly-raced sort on that occasion, and unpenalised for that victory, she rates the handicap good-thing of the day."
The Grand National is the centre stage on Saturday, but the Free Form Service has found three selections away from our very own 'race that stops the nation', including two at Chepstow....
Nicky Henderson has enjoyed a productive meeting so far, and Zaynar (2.50) is a confident selection to add to that tally in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle. The Kelso race in which Quwetwo beat the selection is best overlooked, and there are numerous cogent arguments as to why Zaynar will reverse Champion Hurdle form with Khyber Kim. Primarily the step up to two and a half miles is bound to suit Zaynar, and given Khyber Kim's best form has come at Cheltenham, the case for backing Zaynar at any price around 2.7 is a compelling one.
Over at Chepstow the novice hurdle looks something of a match between Bruslini and Strategic Approach (3.35). Both boast solid handicap form this season, but it was disconcerting how Bruslini travelled at Southwell when last seen, so Strategic Approach rates the safer proposition.
Spotting a horse who has moved yards that can win quickly often reaps its reward, and that was certainly the case regarding Flower Haven (4.05), who landed a touch on her first start for Victor Dartnall at Huntingdon on Monday. Flower Haven pulled clear with a lightly-raced sort on that occasion, and unpenalised for that victory, she rates the handicap good-thing of the day.
