"There are several interesting ones in the staying handicap, but none more so than Alan Swinbank’s Born To Perform who’s potentially thrown in on bumper form and is now hiked up in trip following a break"
It hasn't been an ideal start to April for the placepot selections and, though today will be no easier, the Flat team are hoping to get up and running for the month at Redcar.
2:00 - Conditions are sure to play a major role throughout the day and the opening sprint will be no exception. Kheley's only turf outing in the last two years was a heavy-ground success at Catterick last September and she's been pretty reliable on the all-weather this winter, so she gets the nod along with La Capriosa who's bidding for a quick double and represents a stable in top form.
2:35 - There are several interesting ones in the staying handicap, but none more so than Alan Swinbank's Born To Perform who's potentially thrown in on bumper form and is now hiked up in trip following a break on just his seventh career outing (fifth on Flat). He's accompanied by two of the more solid ones in Mister Pete and Sendali, who are both proven in the conditions and have been in good heart over hurdles of late.
3:10 - The claimer looks very tricky with the whole field having something to prove in one way or another, but the one with fewest questions to answer is Jenny's Pride, who showed some promise early in her career and already has a win to her name on testing ground. The rest are much of a muchness, but Musigny was at least in form when last seen (for Willie Jarvis in October) so he gets the second spot.
3:45 - Another competitive handicap to get stuck into but we have to preserve lines somewhere so we're hoping Academy Blues can build on a promising reappearance and Toby Tyler benefits from a drop back to this trip and a switch to turf.
4:20 - With the same line-preservation approach in mind, it's worth banking on Palawi in the maiden. He has some solid form from last October and the promise of a better performance in him, while he also has a crucial experience edge over most of his rivals.
4:55 - It's hard to look beyond the first three in the betting in the final leg, all probably ahead of the handicapper at the minute, but on account of the fact Wovoka can be a tricky customer from time to time, we're going to side with the unexposed Mr Rainbow and the progressive Pendragon.
