Ffos Las stages the Race of the Day
"Fishoutofwater delivered a more promising performance when second at Bangor last time and if he can avoid the mistakes, he has to go well now back up in trip."
Timeform look at the field for a competitive staying handicap chase at Ffos Las...
Thelobstercatcher won 3 handicap hurdles at around 3m last season for Peter Bowen, but largely out of sorts since. More promise over fences on last 2 starts but still room for improvement in his jumping.
Fishoutofwater landed Hereford bumper on debut and dual hurdles winner in May. Slowly getting act together over fences, second at Bangor last time and step up in trip will suit. Strong claims with a clear round.
Carabinier matched winning hurdling form when runner-up second try over fences at Towcester (2¾m) in December. Took advantage of ease in the weights at Leicester in February but poor effort last time.
Rockabilly was most unfortunate not to break chasing duck, falling when leading 2 out over C&D in January. Another good second at Chepstow when last seen and still open to a bit more improvement.
Five Out of Five won a weak 3m novice at Fakenham in May, and put some lesser efforts behind him when runner-up in handicap there (21f) last month. Still in contention when falling 2 out last time.
Bathwick Brave remains a maiden and has looked a tricky ride. Good efforts when third on 2 of his last 3 starts but needs to improve for the switch to fences to take this.
Cullahill was in good heart at beginning of campaign, landing third win in August (2 of them here). Creditable third at Ascot last time and should be sharper with that first run in 5 months under his belt.
King Jack was in frame 6 times prior to landing Southwell handicap last month. Regularly fails to find much off the bridle though, and opposable in this field.
Ceepeegee gained elusive first win in 4-finisher 25f handicap chase at Wincanton in February. Lesser emphasis on stamina against him last time, and return to 3m in his favour.
Babysitter - Non-Runner
Mumbles Head mixed it in good company back in 2009/10, but clearly been difficult to train since. Looked as though there was still some ability there on penultimate start but poor run here last month.
Timeform 1-2-3
1. Fishoutofwater
2. Rockabilly
3. Cullahill
Timeform View: Fishoutofwater delivered a more promising performance when second at Bangor last time and if he can avoid the mistakes, he has to go well now back up in trip. Rockabilly and Cullahill look best of the rest.
