The exceptional Frankel should win again.
"It is hard to foresee anything other than a ninth straight win for the brilliant Frankel, who confirmed himself an exceptional racehorse in the Sussex Stakes"
Timeform take a look at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, featuring the outstanding Frankel...
Bullet Train was a smart middle-distance performer as a 3-y-o, but used primarily nowadays as Frankel's lead horse on the gallops, and is entered here to set the pace for his stablemate.
Dick Turpin has won two Group 1 races from 9 career victories, including in Italy last month, but that is not up to the quality of this contest and has generally disappointed at this level this year.
Poet's Voice's finest hour came when bagging this race last year, but very much took advantage of a few below-par rivals on that occasion and has clearly regressed since. Repeat is most unlikely.
Side Glance progressed through handicaps last season and, following wins in listed events earlier this year, made the breakthrough in pattern company at Salisbury in August. Firmly up against here it, though.
Dubawi Gold was no match for Frankel in 2000 Guineas but was unlucky not to land the Irish equivalent. Gained deserved Group success at Goodwood, but work to do with Excelebration on Prix du Moulin form.
Excelebration has improved markedly this year, winning at this level at Longchamp last month. Chased home Frankel in Greenham at Newbury and St James's Palace Stakes, and likely to be a similar story here.
Frankel is an outstanding unbeaten colt who destroyed the opposition from the front in 2000 Guineas. Sussex Stakes demolition confirmed he's an exceptional talent, and hard to envisage defeat.
Immortal Verse followed up Group 2 win at Chantilly in emphatic style in the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting, and returns to this track on the back of a high-class effort in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
Timeform 1-2-3
1. Frankel
2. Excelebration
3. Immortal Verse
Timeform View: Hard to foresee anything other than a ninth straight win for the brilliant Frankel, who confirmed himself an exceptional racehorse in the Sussex Stakes. Excelebration is marginally preferred to French filly Immortal Verse for forecast purposes.
