"Side Glance was impressive when winning at Ascot last time and sets a solid standard."
Timeform run the rule over this listed race...
Dunelight is a free-going sort who returned from a six-month break to land a seven-furlong listed race on the AW in March. He wasn't so good at Leicester last time, and is unlikely to be winning this even if back to his best.
Penitent won the Lincoln on his reappearance last year and bagged a listed race over a mile at Sandown in September. He failed to stay a mile and a quarter on his two most recent outings and has a chance returned to his optimum trip.
Side Glance was much improved last season, landing competitive handicaps at Ascot and Chester, and has continued on an upward curve, hacking up in a fast-ground listed contest at the former track last month. He has solid claims.
Spirit Of Sharjah is a hold-up performer with a good turn of foot/ He won four times in 2010, including twice in listed company, but was well held at Leicester on his return to turf last time and is better over shorter.
Set The Trend is lightly raced and looked as good as ever on his return when fifth to St Moritz in the Doncaster Mile, with the Rectifier behind. That still leaves him shy of the required standard here though.
The Cheka is a smart performer who ran a fine race when collard late by lolly For Dolly in the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh (seven furlongs, heavy) last month. He is equally effective a mile one faster ground and is respected.
The Rectifier is a front runner who improved to land a C&D listed race last summer. He was last of six in the Doncaster Mile on his first start since leaving Stef Higgins, and the yard is struggling for winners at present.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Side Glance
2. The Cheka
3. Penitent
Timeform View: Side Glance was impressive when winning at Ascot last time and sets a solid standard. The Cheka went agonisingly close to landing a Group 3 on his return and looks the chief threat, while Penitent would appeal in the event of further rain.
