It's novice chasers today
"Our Bomber Harris has clearly not been the easiest to train but he has the right credentials to make it as a chaser and is one of the more interesting contenders."
Timeform run the rule over this seven-runner novices' chase...
Benny Be Good progressed well over hurdles last season and is going the same way over fences, battling to win at Sedgefield in November and placed on both runs since. A return to more aggressive tactics could see him do better still.
Film Festival jumped fluently from the front when getting off the mark over fences in a 2½m Wetherby handicap in October. He had excuses on his next two starts and, though held on merit last time, couldn't be ruled out here.
Glencree was successful twice from four starts on a lively surface over hurdles in 2008/9. He was off 21 months before making a successful chasing debut at Catterick in January and is open to improvement in this sphere.
Sir Tantallus Hawk is a useful hurdler who has left his first effort over fences behind in two runs since, finishing runner-up at Sedgefield last month and going one better there 12 days later. There is still room for improvement in his jumping.
Halla San is a useful dual-purpose performer whose two runs over hurdles last term came on unsuitably testing ground. He hasn't fired yet this season but conditions are fine here and the late switch to fences could well revive him.
Master Alfredo hasn't shown much ability in bumpers/novice hurdles since leaving Martin Keighley after his debut. He is a chaser on looks but has plenty on his plate here all the same.
Our Bomber Harris is a bumper/hurdle winner who hasn't been seen all that often since 2008/9. He shaped as if needing his comeback run at Cheltenham in November, but has the size and pedigree to take to chasing if all is well.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Our Bomber Harris
2. Benny Be Good
3. Halla San
Timeform View: Our Bomber Harris has clearly not been the easiest to train but he has the right credentials to make it as a chaser and is one of the more interesting contenders. Halla San has a bit to prove now switched to fences, but there is some cause for optimism given more suitable conditions, while Benny Be Good should again get involved.
