Long Run and Kauto Star lock horns again.

"Long Run may even have more to offer aged just 6 and can get his season off to a flyer..."

Timeform preview a fantastic renewal of the Betfair Chase, which features some of the best chasers in the country...

Diamond Harry always promised to reach the top over hurdles and has made remarkable strides over fences, most impressive when winning 2010 Hennessy. Not seen since, but goes well fresh, and is 2 from 2 here.

Kauto Star is the standout chaser of his generation, seeking a fourth win in this race. Age and physical problems (has bled) appear to be catching up with him judged on recent efforts and is surely vulnerable.

Long Run rose to the top of the chasing ranks last term with success in the King George and Cheltenham Gold Cup. May even have more to offer aged just 6 and can get his season off to a flyer.

Pure Faith is a dual novice chase winner who seemed to improve out of all recognition behind Albertas Run in the Old Roan at Aintree last time. Tackles new trip here and would be a most surprising victor.

Time For Rupert was second only to Big Buck's in his time as a staying hurdler and made good start over fences last term. Fine front-running second to Weird Al in the Charlie Hall on return and type to improve again.

Weird Al was 3 from 3 in his novice chase campaign and made an impressive start for new yard when beating Time For Rupert (despite conceding 3 lb) in the Charlie Hall last month. Could prove the biggest threat to Long Run.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Long Run
2. Weird Al
3. Diamond Harry

Timeform View: A brilliant race in store featuring half a dozen of the best chasers around. Long Run met with his only reverse last season on his reappearance, though his subsequent rise up the ranks firmly suggests the same scenario won't transpire this time around and he simply has to get the vote, despite the presence of potential top-notchers Diamond Harry, Time For Rupert and Weird Al.
