After an early fall from grace on the first day of the Perth Festival, leg one to be precise, Timeform's Placepot team adopt the classic British stiff upper lip approach and tackle the second day of the meeting head on.

2.10 - There's a case for saying Ciceron should be a shade of odds on rather than a shade of odds against for the opener, particularly as main form danger Tango Foxtrot has left Willie Mullins since last seen. Therefore, there's clear hope of a good Placepot result to start proceedings if the favourite runs up to his recent form and the latter returns way off his game.

2.40 - Top It All takes the eye as a possible up-and-comer, but in-form Solway Ally brings a more persuasive Placepot case to the table and Grand Union looks a possible at longer odds so long as the return to hurdling perks him up.

3.10 - Island Flyer and Leading Man aren't bombproof, but they're certainly in a different league to these at their best and the nagging doubts are best overlooked given one or both are sure to hit the two if anything like on song.

3.45 - Apologies for the following, but err on the side of caution by taking all four in this trappy minor event and hope for a result (Backstage not winning would be just that!).

4.20 - De Boitron is some way ahead of his mark and Go Silver Bullet looks set to secure an uncontested lead, so if one or both isn't placed we'll be forced to take our attention away from Perth on Friday.

4.55 - Quartz de Thaix seems sure to give a good account on the back of his impressive Cheltenham success, expected to uphold form with Pontop in fact, and the one to join him is potential handicap blot Lead On, who took a marked step back in the right direction at Chepstow last time.
