"The James Given-trained Murura belied obvious greenness to win his maiden at Wolverhampton last time and he should still have more to come, as is shown by the Timeform ā€˜p’ which has been attributed to him"

With the placepot funds running low we again try to conquer Kempton, something which has already proved beyond us twice this week. Looking at today's card it could be the day it all turns round, though, so here are this evening's selections.

6.25 - A terrible maiden in which only two have any sort of form to their name. Diamond Johnny G is a free-going sort and perhaps isn't as straightforward as Lexi's Layla, so we select the latter as our opening banker.

7.00 - Plenty of runners but not necessarily too much pace on, so there is a chance that Whodunit could get himself to the front from his wide draw and dictate things. Our second selection, West Emirates, has looked one paced in the finish when runner-up over shorter on his first three starts, but Clive Cox's charge may have more to offer now switched to handicaps.

7.30 - The James Given-trained Murura belied obvious greenness to win his maiden at Wolverhampton last time and he should still have more to come, as is shown by the Timeform 'p' which has been attributed to him, but he's not ideally drawn so it's wise to include another. Kilt Rock is making his reappearance, but he won well over course and distance last year, and a reproduction of that effort here should see him make the placings.

8.00 - Andrew Balding has his string in fine form so far this year and Relative Strength, who is consistent and has course form to his name, is difficult to leave out. Our second choice is the quirky Trachonitis, who isn't one to put much faith in for win purposes but is in good heart at present and looks up to making the three.

8.30 - The best race on the card and it looks as though there should be a fair bit of pace on, which leads us to select a couple of hold-up performers. Street Power had an excellent end to his four-year-old campaign and looks sure to go close if reappearing in the same form. Also included is Fathsta, who doesn't win much nowadays, but should be suited by the nature of this race.

9.00 - Not much strength in depth in the finale and, if we've got this far, we'll be relying on the in-form Global Village to seal our first April placepot success.
