Today's big race is the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse

Telenor...is a sound jumper who has done all of his racing on either soft or heavy ground and he has more potential for improvement than most of his rivals."

Timeform's Billy Nash gives you four recommendations for racing in Ireland on Easter Monday...

Cork 3:10 - Win Lay - Outlaw Pete

Enda Bolger's runners in hunter chases always deserve plenty of respect but they often go off at shortish prices and that may well be the case with Outlaw Pete. A well-held seventh to L'Ami in a cross-country race at Punchestown on his only outing "between the rails", Outlaw Pete has won 2 of his 6 starts in points but his form in that sphere isn't easy to weigh up and he will have to be a bit better than average to overcome the likes of Ballyverane Oscar

Fairyhouse 4:05 - Win and Place Back - Telenor

This may not be a vintage renewal of the Irish Grand National but that does not make it any easier to pick the winner. The ante-post favourite, Saddlers Storm, has ticks in plenty of the right boxes but he doesn't represent much value at his current odds (8.2 on Betfair at the time of writing) and Telenor appeals as a better option. Telenor has taken really well to chasing this season, winning 2 of his 4 starts including when dead-heating with Uimhiraceathair in a Grade 2 over 3m at Navan (with subsequent Grade 3 winner Inistioge third and Powers Gold Cup winner Jadanli fourth) on his latest outing, and the step up to this sort of trip looks ideal for him. He is a sound jumper who has done all of his racing on either soft or heavy ground and he has more potential for improvement than most of his rivals.

Cork 4:20 - Win Back - By The Hour

By The Hour is hardly an original selection but it will be something of a surprise if she fails to get her head in front here. She didn't appear to quite see out the trip when second to Would You Do That in a 3m maiden at Thurles last time and she should have too many gears for Ambershan and Indifference Curve.

Fairyhouse 6:20 - Win and Place Back - Old Shyan

Old Shyan was a bit unlucky to bump into a really well handicapped sort in Whatsabillion at Clonmel last time and he may be able to make the most of his light weight here. He has yet to win a race of any description but did finish second off a 6 lb higher mark than this over hurdles at Tipperary last year and the drop back in trip won't inconvenience him in the slightest. This is a competitive heat with no less than 5 last-time-out winners in the field but Old Shyan is likely to be a bit of a price and looks capable of getting placed at the very least.
