"An unoriginal selection to start the evening off, but a very solid one nevertheless, as though Strandhill is still a maiden after eight starts, she can be relied upon to run some sort of race and has been found a weak maiden"
Timeforms's Billy Nash gives you three recommendations for racing in Ireland on Monday...
5.50 Roscommon - Strandhill - back
An unoriginal selection to start the evening off, but a very solid one nevertheless, as though Strandhill is still a maiden after eight starts, she can be relied upon to run some sort of race and has been found a weak maiden. Only Green Utopia looks a danger, but with Strandhill likely to get a relatively easy time of things on the front end in first-time blinkers, Chris Hayes should be able to keep enough in reserve to hold off the Valerie Keatley filly.
6.50 Roscommon - Russian View - back
Russian View thrived on the all-weather over the winter, winning once and running several other good races in defeat, when occasionally undone by overly-patient tactics. That style of racing is a concern on a track which doesn't really lend itself to such an approach, but Russian View is able to race off a significantly lower mark now back on turf and has done enough to suggest he'll prove effective on this surface, so he could be a handicap blot, whilst the form of the Lynam yard is another plus.
7.20 Roscommon - Decoy Daddy - place lay
Decoy Daddy comes into this race in good heart, having been a close second at Tipperary last time (pair clear), but that was a race contested by mainly out-of-form horses, the favourite exiting early as well, so it's easy to pick holes in that form. This race looks appreciably stronger, with Glenstal Abbey, New Phase and Grey Soldier all boasting better recent displays than Decoy Daddy, with Coscorrig on a par with that one (at least judged on her form over fences). The drop back from two and a half miles probably isn't in Decoy Daddy's favour either.
