For Non Stop in action
"In 36 runs Runshan has traded at half his BSP 26 times making him a natural back-to-lay trading horse."
Neil Munro has gorged on the Christmas racing to bring us this four-course menu of In-Play betting strategies
I hope that everyone has had a fantastic Christmas and may I take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a happy and prosperous New Year. It has been a fascinating festive period and I am sure you have all seen some horses to keep an eye on but here are a few I have noticed.
For Non Stop
Nick Williams' horses have been in top form over the period with three winners from eight runners and although For Non Stop didn't win, the seven-year-old ran well in defeat at Newbury behind Cue Card. For the 11th time in 13 runs he traded at half his BSP which suggest that he catches the eye of in-running backers as he travels strongly in mid-division. He has some decent form prior to this race, having gone down close to the high-class Al Ferof on his previous chase start, but he does still have the ability to make the odd mistake. So, with five odds-on trades in the run, he is well worth trading out on until he cleans his jumping up.
Advice: Back pre-race at BSP and then lay off your stake at half the BSP in the run, followed by a low odds-on offer.
Avenging Ace
The colours of Tim Leslie are familiar to most National Hunt fans (Peddlers Cross, Overturn) so when you hear that connections paid £120,000 after winning a soft ground Irish point you would expect the horse to have won under rules in his first three starts over hurdles. But, so far, Avenging Ace, trained by Donald McCain, has travelled well in his races but failed to find under pressure. I thought it was interesting that connections tried a tongue tie for his most recent run at Uttoxeter which might suggest breathing problems. With three low trades I would be looking to get the field winning me some money until he shows signs that he finds more at the business end of a race.
Advice: Small back pre-race at BSP and then lay out double your stake at half the BSP in the run, followed by a low odds-on offer.
Synchronised
I just want to make a quick mention of Jonjo O'Neill's Lexus Chase winner. If the ground comes up with soft in the going description at Cheltenham in March connections could well go for the Gold Cup after proving he can cut it at the top level. I hope you managed to back Synchronised at bigger odds in the run as he traded double his BSP in the run for the sixth time in eight wins.
Advice: Back in-running at double BSP if you fancy him.
Runshan
David Bridgwater's 12-year-old is still going strong and he put in a decent prominent performance when finishing fourth off a mark of 122 at Cheltenham. Runshan loves to front run but he can handle being taken on for the lead which means he consistently trades short in the run. In 36 runs he has traded at half his BSP 26 times making him a natural back-to-lay trading horse.
Advice: Back pre-race at BSP and then lay out 150% of your stake at half the BSP in the run.
