Glorious Goodwood has flown in so far, let's hope today's Placepot doesn't pass us by

"Electra Star was a very promising third on debut after taking a while to get into full stride. Improvement is expected, representing a yard whose two-year-olds tend to come on for the run"

As I'm on my first Placepot slot and I'm eager to please, here's a small(ish)-perm, big-pool tilt at today's Glorious Goodwood 'Pot'.

2.10 - London Stripe was hugely impressive when winning a handicap over this distance at Newmarket in May, and he did better still when second to subsequent Group 3 runner-up Dandino at Royal Ascot. After finishing with plenty left in the tank when winning over a mile at York last time, Capponi will relish the step up to ten furlongs and should also make the frame.

2.45 - In what looks a very open sprint, consistent Borderlescott seems a logical selection. Still as good as ever, he has never finished outside the first four places in as many tries at Glorious Goodwood. In such an open race it may well be worth also taking a chance on three-year-old filly Astrophysical Jet, who showed a terrific burst of speed when winning at Newmarket earlier this month. Lightly raced and better than ever this year, Triple Aspect can run a big race here.

3.25 - There is no reason to look beyond Age of Aquarius, who has been the model of consistency this season, finishing second on all three starts, including behind Harbinger at Chester and Rite Of Passage in the Ascot Gold Cup. Improving all year, he has the scope to go onto produce even better.

4.00 - The front two in the market stand out like a sore thumb here and it's Polly's Mark who just gets the nod. A very reliable sort, there shouldn't be any problems with stamina if her fast- finishing second place to Barshiba in the Lancashire Oaks is anything to go by.

4.35 - Electra Star was a very promising third on debut after taking a while to get into full stride. Improvement is expected, representing a yard whose two-year-olds tend to come on for the run. It is significant that she has an entry for the Group 1 Fillies' Mile, as is also the case with Fenella Fudge, who can put the greenness that she showed on her first appearance aside to make the first three.

5.10 - Gene Autry has shot to prominence of late and has a great chance to get in the placings, impressing when a four- length winner at Windsor and following that by running on well at Newmarket to finish third to Fireback, who also has excellent place claims.
