Today's selections come from the cards at Plumpton and Southwell.

The biggest money has been traded on the first race at Plumpton, the 12:35, and it speaks loud and clear for Comedy Act, backed to make a winning debut over hurdles from an early [2.24] in to [1.7]. Several others have decent flat form but these are cold in the betting. While today's prize money will do little to offset the owner's purchase price, a good performance today will raise hopes for Cheltenham in March.

In the 14.35 , Deep Pockets has been backed from [20.0] into [13.5]. His chance is not obious yet he won second time out last season. In fact he has won twice at Plumpton. Third time today perhaps.

Today's drifter runs in the same colours as Comedy Act. Quality Art has been deposed as favourite for Wolverhampton's 15.20 maiden, his price rising now to [2.8] from an earlier [2.0]. Quality Art drops down to the minimum trip here with doubters obviously willing to look elsewhere. Steps now heads the market with the consistent Crystallus also attracting interest.
