On a snowy day, FTM head over to Punchestown
"Smoking Aces has been supported in to [5.8] from [9.8] in the 15:25."
Today`s Follow The Money movers come from sole surviving meeting at Punchestown.
In 13.50, Simenon has been on the drift from [3.45] out to [4.1]. Capable of smart form on the flat when trained by Andrew Balding this one made only a satisfactory debut over hurdles at Fairyhouse before winning easily at Cork in a weak looking contest. This is a big step up in class for Simenon today and with others having stronger form to their name he looks worth opposing.
Smoking Aces has been supported in to [5.8] from [9.8] in the 15:25. Tom Taaffe`s eight-year-old was a decent winner in soft grund at Fairyhouse 2 runs ago before failing to land a blow in the competitive Paddy Power Chase last time out on faster ground. The step back up in trip today looks ideal as does the heavy ground so a big run should be on the cards.
The day`s final selection is in the cross country race at 15:55 where Scotsirish has been very solid at the head of the market having been backed in to [1.48] from [1.79]. A classy individual over normal regulations he seemed well suited by the switch to the unique obstacles used in these races when bolting up at Punchestown in November. His next cross country effort at Cheltenham is best ignored having taken the wrong course and there was no disgrace in finishing a close up fourth behind Big Zeb last time out. With main rival Garde Champetre now 13 and probably not as good as he once was, Scotsirish will be very difficult to beat today.
