The FTM boys give us their usual two backs and one lay ahead of a fantastic day's racing.

We start with the opening race at the Berkshire track, the 12:20, where Rebel Rebellion has been well supported. Initially trading at [3.15], he is now down to [2.52] after strong words from his trainer, Paul Nicholls, who describes him as a 'nice horse.' As a point winner we know that he should safely negotiate the hurdles and under the tutelage of Charlie Mann last year showed a very high level of bumper form, running yesterday's facile hurdles winner Megastar relatively close. This trip looks spot on for him and the competition doesn't look too strong and with a bit of luck, should get Paul Nicholls weekend off to a flyer.

Staying with Ascot and this time we look to go against the champion trainer, with Master Minded in 2:05 Grade 2 Chase. Available to back at [1.73] when the market opened he has been on the drift all morning and now trades at [2.02] as punters take a strong view against him. The dual Champion Chaser had a tough season last year after breaking a rib and he found things much the harder subsequently and by his trainer's own admission has not looked quite the force of old. Today's trip is over 2m3f, a distance that he has never won over and although going into the race top rated, the chances of him running to that look slim, with layers taking a dim a view.

Continuing at Ascot, and in the 2:35 Karabak has been well backed in the big Grade 2 hurdle. He has been matched at [5.1] but now trades down at [4.0]. His big competition comes in the form of Zaynar, Triumph hurdle winner and victor in this race last year, from Karabak who was second. They re-oppose however on much different terms with a 6lb pull at the weights in Karabak's favour. The Alan King stable is also going great guns with plenty of winners lately, whereas last season was spent under a cloud for the most part, particularly during November and his Barbury Castle handler is hoping for a huge run.
