Following the furore of the Grand National at the weekend it's now back to the mundane grind of mid-week racing, though there are high-profile Flat meetings from Wednesday. Folkestone host a pretty uninspiring card today, but Timeform's Flat reporters have come up with a perm to try and get us through.

2.00 - David Evans has made a cracking start with his two-year-olds and our first selection, Bajan Bullet, was part of a 1-2-3 for the trainer at Nottingham last week. She sets a fair standard for her mostly unraced rivals to surpass and it's hard to see her out the three. It probably isn't wise to bank on a two-year-old, and certainly not on a female, so we also include Lady Excellentia whose stable won with their first juvenile runner here earlier in the month.

2.30 - William Haggas hasn't had many runners yet this year, but has proven his string are in good form with wins for Penitent and South Easter. The trainer's Flouncing is set to go off a short price, but she's open to plenty of improvement and will be well suited by this drop in trip.

3.00 - With form figures of 3-3-2 in the last three Majors, Lee Westwood is golfing's equivalent of a Placepot banker. His equine namesake, however, isn't quite so consistent, but is well handicapped on his best efforts and the return to turf could see him capitalise on his falling mark. Rather more solid is Halsion Chancer, who has been in good form on the whole this year and, if handling the softer conditions, should run well.

3.30 - Vito Volterra has had couple of outings on the all-weather this year and they should put him spot on for the drop back to this grade. He looks a more solid option than Tiger Hawk who is best on fibresand and isn't entirely straightforward.

4.00 - Plenty of these are returning from absences so it's hard to be too bullish about any of their chances, but Whirly Dancer was consistent last year and running to a similar level on this reappearance should see her thereabouts, whilst Old Money is potentially open to the most improvement in the field and could be a different proposition this year.

4.30 - Not a strong race on paper and Hughie Morrison's handicap debutant, On Khee, looks sure to go well, he showed enough last year and will improve for the longer trip. Also included is Highland Bridge, who deserves another chance to improve on the form of his maiden win having not had things go to plan last time.
