Carl Harris is off to Teeside to see if Richard Fahey's yard can continue their good form. Meanwhile, will a filly with a reputation for doing the bare minimum, duck her responsibilities further South?
Officially Redcar is a seaside town. However, the view from the racecourse is dominated by chemical plants and industrial clouds bellowing from huge chimneys. That said I can't help but love racing at the Teeside venue and will be there today to back a horse I think may land a bit of a touch.
The Redcar straight mile championship is a good series that culminates in a valuable televised final at the end of the season. The journey towards the big prize starts this afternoon for Dream Lodge (3:35) who is making his debut for Richard Fahey. The drop in the weights coupled with Frederik Tylicki's five pounds claim could mean that Dream Lodge is a well handicapped horse.
The Fahey yard are in flying form and it looks as though this will be yet another horse to improve for the Malton handler. I expect to see steady market support for the former James Given inmate so I have taken the early price.
Aromatic (3:35, Salisbury) was one that we backed last time out at Lingfield where she won in workman like fashion. That was from a mark of 78 and she is back on turf today running from a five pounds higher mark. John Gosden has her entered in next week's Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot which looks a remote possibility but suggests that she has shown quite a lot at home. She looks a filly that does the bare minimum which Jimmy Fortune, who takes over from Richard Mullen, will have to overcome.
I think Aromatic, who is an improving filly, is well weighted to complete the hat-trick today.
Tuesdays Bets:
3:35 Redcar- Dream Lodge- win @ [5.2]
3:55 Salisbury- Aromatic- win @ [2.8]

Thought I'd break out today, do something different and place a bet. Had heard positive things about Betfair from a friend and decided to give them a go. Must have been my lucky day.....backed Dream Lodge at Redcar and it romped home to victory. Thanks Betfair, I'll be back again soon.
