Top Class Action at Sandown Tonight...
28th May

There can be no complaints about the quality at Sandown tonight, it is the best evening card of the year. There are four pattern races made up of two listed, a group two and a group three for us to get stuck into. It was pleasing to have such a nice winner of the listed Hillary Needler Trophy last night and Don't Tell Mary is a serious Royal Ascot contender now. There are a few more bound for the Royal meeting on show at Sandown.

The first of those runs in the listed National Stakes (6.35) where Monsieur Chevalier looks the one to be on. Richard Hannon's undefeated colt can put another 1 next to his form figures before Royal Ascot with a win here and confirm him as the season's best two year-old colt. He will not be much of a price but looks one of two bankers which I suggest backing in a Betfair Multiple.

The second leg of the double runs in the very next race, the feature race of the night, the group two King Henry II Stakes (7.10). Patkai is also bound for Royal Ascot and can enhance his Gold Cup claims this evening. Last time out at Ascot he annihilated his rivals and looks a stayer of the highest order who cannot be opposed. The advice is to double Monsieur Chevalier (6.35) with Patkai (7.10) in a Betfair Multiple.

I will also finally get the chance to lay Geordieland at a short price in-running, who travels well but rarely finds anything which I anticipate being the scenario once again up the Sandown hill.

The class horse on show at Sandown is Conduit (7.45) who won the St Leger for Sir Michael Stoute and was last seen winning at the Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita. He has to concede a penalty all round and the 10 furlong trip may not be his optimum but this is a genuine group one horse who should have the class to win at what, looking at the market, is an excellent price. Ryan Moore is in sublime form at present and another ride of the calibre that landed the US win will see Conduit and us collect the money.

Todays Bets...

Betfair Multiple
6.35 Sandown - Monsieur Chevalier
7.10 Sandown - Patkai

7.45 Sandown - Conduit win @ [4.1]
