After a great couple of days, Carl Harris bids for more success at Chester...

I was almost in need of a doctor yesterday after Doctor Fremantle managed to win by a narrow margin under Ryan Moore. It was a good ride and a great result for us. It has been a great couple of days at Chester and the meeting signs off today with another exciting looking card.

The big race of the day is the Dee Stakes (2.15) where Aidan O'Brien will look to follow up his 1-2 in yesterday's Chester Vase with Drumbeat. The defection of Free Agent is a positive for Drumbeat who should find this an easier task than when chasing home Redwood last time out in the Fielden Stakes.

Redwood is very highly thought of by connections and now heads to York's Dante Stakes and could be supplemented for The Derby. Drumbeat was only beaten by two lengths, which is form that may prove to be of the very highest order in the future. I have had a fiver on Redwood for the Derby at [120.00] and would like to see that Newmarket form franked by Drumbeat today. Although not one of Aiden O'Brien's stable stars, Drumbeat has shown a good deal of ability and can win today. I have taken [2.46] about a horse that looks the clear form choice.

Drumbeat would be my bet of the day if it were not for Empowered (4.35) who is, like Drumbeat, partnered by Johnny Murtagh.

Empowered won at Doncaster on Saturday and runs here without a penalty, the win coming in an apprentice handicap. Backed from 13/8 into 11/8 he won going away despite drifting across the track and could be well ahead of the handicapper today.

Johnny Murtagh should sort out the steering and with the Haggas stable boasting a 25% strike rate this season we can tick all the form boxes, with horse, jockey and trainer all at the top of their game. I would imagine that Empowered will be very strongly supported and it may be worth taking an early price. Empowered is my best bet of the day. Lets hope it is the lucky last for us!
