Having survived an inspection, Taunton is the focus of today's attempt at the Placepot...
12:40- Electrolyser is obviously an extremely interesting recruit from the Flat, now in the care of leading trainer Nicky Henderson. He will prove hard to beat if taking well to this new discipline, but is likely to command a large proportion of the 'pot' and it could be worth taking him on with a couple of rivals. The Mumper looked much improved when scoring at Market Rasen last month and should still have plenty to offer, while Sidney Melbourne created a good impression on his hurdles bow in March 2011. Sidney Melbourne has joined Paul Nicholls since he was last seen in action and is entitled to plenty of respect.
13:10- Home Run, who completed the hat-trick at Wincanton on Boxing Day, is clearly thriving at present and looks difficult to oppose. He travelled well last time, making rapid headway as they turned for home, and he won with greater authority than the winning margin would suggest, hanging left close home. David Pipe's contender may not have stopped improving yet and we will bank on him to see us through the second leg.
13:45- Jayandbee wasn't particularly fluent on his chasing debut, but he had hinted at promise over hurdles and is given another chance back in handicap company. We will take a chance on Midnight Charmer's stamina and also add him to the perm. He has been running creditably of late, often finishing in the frame, and looks like a good Placepot proposition.
14:20- Ma Filleule was just denied in a listed event at Newbury last time, with the reopposing Call Me A Star and Eleven Fifty Nine in behind, and is taken to go close to gaining some compensation here. The winner of that Newbury event, She Ranks Me, has since been victorious, adding a bit of substance to the form, and we will bank on Nicky Henderson's expensive French import.
14:55- Fine Parchment was in the process of running a good race when coming down at the second-last fence at Fakenham recently and looks well treated on the best of his form. Deireadh Re has yet to match his hurdles form over fences, but encouragement can be taken from his latest effort at Sandown and he will be a big player if building on that run.
15:30-Ifyouletmefinish shaped with promise in a race that has worked out well on his seasonal reappearance at Ascot and looks sure to benefit for this step up in trip. Jeremy Scott's charge looks primed to produce a good effort. However, this is a competitive heat so we will also add David Pipe's Waterunder for a bit of insurance. He caught the eye at Cheltenham last time and remains open to significant improvement, so we will keep him onside
