With few more than 30 runners at Wolverhampton, it wasn't a taxing decision for Timeform's Dominic Finn to opt for the more competitive card at Southwell as today's placepot target.

13:15 - The opener is probably the trickiest race on the card with some inexperienced jockeys and very few in-form horses, but Harrys Yer Man seems the obvious starting point having made an impressive winning return at Wolverhampton last week, while Kingaroo has a solid record at the track and hinted at a revival last time.

13:45 - The second division is a bit more straightforward with Mister Frosty making a fair bit of appeal returning from a break for an in-form yard. He's likely to be thereabouts along with Magnitude, who also hails from a stable going well but has the extra benefit of stall two.

14:15 - Heidi's Delight shaped particularly well under an overly-aggressive ride over six furlongs at Southwell last time and as one that's almost certainly ahead of her mark, will be very difficult to keep out of the three in the five-furlong handicap. Claretintheblood appeals as the obvious second choice having been successful on his only previous try on fibresand.

14:45 - Jamie Osborne's horses could hardly be going any better but I think there are enough reasons to oppose Drawnfromthepast for placepot purposes in the five-furlong seller. He's unproven on the surface and didn't need to be anywhere near his best to land a claimer at Lingfield last time, while Argentine shows his best form under today's conditions and comes off the back of a good second in a Wolverhampton handicap yesterday. Spirit of Coniston has a sound record over course and distance, so is worth having on side, too.

15:15 - Including only one in the four-runner race is risky but it's very difficult to see Derivatives, who has the clear best form and not much opposition, failing to get off the mark today.

15:45 - Finally, Ghostwing set a new course record over Southwell's five-furlong track a couple of starts back, form which has been boosted several times since, and can make a bold bid to go in again now back at the track (albeit over a furlong further). He goes in along with the thriving Global Village.
