"Roedean's excellent recent form is symptomatic of his yard as a whole and she can be expected to capitalise on yet another good opportunity in the seller"
Timeform's Dominic Finn believes that Southwell makes slightly more placepot appeal than Wolverhampton on a Thursday dominated by all-weather racing.
13:30 - Thriving sprinters such as No Mean Trick are ideal for placepots, so he's the obvious first choice in the opener, accompanied by the well-treated Fear Nothing, who's reverting to five furlongs with blinkers back on.
14:00 - Mediterranean Sea may be on the hat-trick but her yard were in much better form when she was successful on her last couple of starts and she's worth opposing with both Straversjoy and Sergeant Troy. Both are yet to prove themselves on the surface but the former offered promise when fifth at the track last year, while the latter's dam gained her only success at Southwell.
14:30 - Roedean's excellent recent form is symptomatic of her yard as a whole and she can be expected to capitalise on yet another good opportunity in the seller, so she's today's banker.
15:00 - Both Henry Bee and Bond Style have form in the book, the latter on this unique surface, but neither have looked anything out of the ordinary and are vulnerable to the improving Kickingthelily and Brian Ellison's Adili, who shaped well first time up and is likely to benefit from the extra emphasis on stamina.
15:30 - As with Mediterranean Sea, D'Urberville is worth opposing based on his yard's quiet spell, with Dashing Eddie (developing excellent course record) and Pipers Piping (good course-and-distance second to subsequent winner Fluctuation on penultimate start) the one's to have on side.
16:00 - Finally, there's a reasonable chance that Suddenly Susan will be too quick and too good for the remainder in the six-furlong handicap, but there's also the possibility that she'll turn up on one of her off days so, with that in mind, the more consistent Ridgeway Hawk and Gracie's Gift are more solid propositions for placepot purposes.
Selections:
13:30 - 2, 6
14:00 - 4, 5
14:30 - 2
15:00 - 2, 6
15:30 - 2, 4
16:00 - 5, 7
