"Safebreaker looks a very good proposition in the amateur riders race at 4:55."
Three days of top class racing kicks off at Ascot on Friday and Carl Harris is looking to bank a few quid ahead of the weekend.
Having seen the declarations for Saturday's QEII Stakes at Ascot on Saturday I can say I am looking forward to seeing Rip Van Winkle, Mastercraftsman and Delegator race for the big group one prize. The Ascot card on Saturday looks of the highest quality.
The Haydock seller is a pretty decent contest, the £10,000 prize money has attracted a decent field. Buddhist Monk (3:55) is the one to be on with Jamie Spencer in the plate. Three starts in claiming company have yielded two wins with this race being perfect for Ian Williams' four year-old. Official ratings suggest that he should win but the form is by far the strongest on offer. Buddhist Monk is my best bet of the day.
Not the greatest race ever run at the track, in fact one of the lowest quality affairs run here all season but Safebreaker (4.55) looks a very good proposition in the amateur riders race. I usually avoid these races and will only bet if the jockey is competent. Joshua Moore takes the ride, a positive in this race and I think the race boils down to a match with Bangalore, the mount of Simon Walker. Safebreaker has improved since moving to Kevin Ryan and has been found a good opportunity to follow up on his Chester win where Joshua Moore gave him a great ride.
Veiled (9.20) was an easy winner last time out a, bu nine lengths. The handicapper will be ready to lump on the weight but Sir Mark Precott has got her entered at Wolverhampton where she has to carry a twelve pounds penalty. Last time out she had a six pounds penalty but Rossie Jessop, who keeps the ride, took off seven. In that context the twelve pounds is not insurmountable and I think Veiled will make is a hat-trick tonight.

3.55 Haydock- Buddhist Monk [2.48] Win
4.55 Ascot- Safebreaker @ [4.0] Win
