Rip Van Winkle proved what a good horse he is by landing the QEII on Saturday. Ascot continues and the Curragh stage a decent card with the big race being the Geoffs Million, writes Carl Harris.

Today we will have one bet at Ascot and one at the Curragh.

An excellent race at Ascot with High Standing (3:15) being a very solid bet in the six furlong Diadem Stakes (group two). Kieren Fallon was aboard last time when the horse lost its 100 percent record over six furlongs. That was, however, a group one race and ran with credit to finish third. Ryan Moore takes the ride once again having won three times this season on William Haggas' exciting four year-old. High Standing is my best bet of the day.

A valuable race can go to Aidan O'Brien's Beethoven (3.20) with Johnny Murtagh aboard. He was a good third last time in the Irish National Stakes, a group one race, and ironically his main challenger will be a stable mate, Air Chief Marshall. Beethoven though is the choice of the stable jockey and the form is solid. No fewer than twenty runners contest this valuable contest but Beethoven can prove to be one in a million and land the jackpot.
