Daily Racing Tips: Am I going mad? I must be, I'm backing Geordieland!

There's some excellent racing at Doncaster today and the weather has been wonderful so far here this week, says Carl Harris. So here's hoping for more of the same...

Friday's card has some excellent races and with the St Leger declarations made it promises to be a decent race for the classic on Saturday. There are four meetings today and I will be focusing on the best of those at Doncaster and Sandown.

Misheer (1:35) is a very speedy filly who has won three of her four career starts. Her last outing was at Newmarket where she won a decent group two contest by almost four lengths. Her one defeat was at the hands of Jealous Again at the Royal Meeting, but take the winner out , who was well ahead in terms of development, and Misheer beat a decent field. Neil Callan is back on board and I think she has outstanding claims and is my best bet of the day.

I must be mad but I am backing Geordieland (2.40) for the Doncaster Cup. I have laid this boy so many times in running and in the long-term I am well ahead, so it he doesn't win my Geordieland account will still be in the black. So why am I backing him today? Well this season he looks a better horse, winning a Sandown group two by five lengths and comes here with decent group one form, behind Yeats, to his name last time. He should beat this field, on ratings he is seven pounds to the good which illustrates the chance he holds. From what I have seen this season he should win. Personally I would aim him, if he were mine, at the Champion Hurdle. Sadly he isn't mine.
