Medermit lost his place as favourite for the Irish Independent Arkle after refusing in the Tom Jones Memorial HTJ Centre Ltd Novices' Chase at Huntingdon on Wednesday.
Alan King's Arkle hope, who has been matched at as low as [8.4] on Betfair, is now out to [20.0].
The very smart hurdler had largely impressed with his jumping on his chasing debut at Aintree last month and looked to be going well enough at Huntingdon, where he was sent off at [1.25].
However, the grey pulled himself up on the approach to the sixth, which left Sergeant Pink and Harry Tricker to fight out what turned out to be a controversial finish in itself, the former first past the post with three quarters of a length to spare but placed behind Harry Tricker after the stewards intervened, adjudged to have cost him the race after constantly hanging right into him on run-in.
Paul Nicholls' Celestial Halo [16.0] is now at the head of the Cheltenham Arkle betting.
