Today's 80/20 is Mon Plaisir in the 15:40 at Nottingham.

This son of US stallion Pleasant Tap made a very favourable impression in a Newmarket maiden in August when he ran third to Redesignation.

The form of that race has thrown up the odd winner and since. Last time out Mon Plaisir ran third behind the progressive Billion Dollar Kid at Folkestone when sent off as the favourite.

I do not think that he was as disappointing as some have said because the runner-up has since gone on to win as well as the fifth-placed horse in that race. In addition, I feel that the slower ground today will be in his favour.

With Tiger Dream likely to go off at short odds Mon Plaisir should give us a sporting chance to land the 80/20 at a solid price.
