Nick Shiambouros' Patented 80-20 Bet

Will today's 80-20 selection be an award winner...

Today's 80/20 is Oscar Park in the 1.40 at Ascot.

This fine improving staying hurdler has been slowly maturing over the last couple of years and today could well be his "coming out party" in this very interesting race.

Last time out at Newbury he ran a fine race and was still in contention when he came down late in the race.

Today he does not have to face the great Inglis Driver but faces two short price horses with plenty to prove in the stamina department. With this in mind i believe we have a sporting chance of landing the 80/20 at a very big price.

Today's 80-20 is Shining Gale in the 13:20 at Uttoxeter.

Shining Gale's shrewd stable is beginning to fire and this Glacial Storm gelding made a favourable impression when running Kingston Lane reasonably close at Chepstow with a good gap back to the third.

He was well backed on his first start and may well be punted accordingly again, but this is a fair race and Shining Gale should give us a fair chance of landing the 80-20 at a fair price.

Today's 80-20 finished third

Today's 80-20 is Run To Me in the 15:10 at Ludlow.

This is one of the weaker races on the card and this daughter of Comanche Run showed plenty of improvement to dispose of a pretty moderate group last time out. I think there is a bit more to come.

A few of the larger stables are represented in this contest and with that in mind I think we have a fair chance of landing the 80-20 at a reasonable price.

Today's 80-20 finished unplaced

Today's 80-20 is Premiere Des Marais in the 13:30 at Newbury.

After racing in the French provinces this Kalmoss gelding ran really well for this in-form stable chasing the very impressive winner Helens Vision at huge odds over this course earlier this month.

His astute trainer is taking on a favourite who will go off at short odds but I am expecting Premiere Des Marais to give us a really good chance of landing the 80-20 at a fair price in this huge field.

Today's 80-20 finished fourth

Today's 80-20 is Media Man in the 12:50 at Catterick.

In a wide open betting event this Presenting gelding nearly took the field all the way last time out and put up a much improved effort to what he has shown so far.

I really feel the front running tactics were the main difference to his improved performance and we should have a good chance of landing the 80-20 at a good price in this large field.

Today's 80-20 finished second

Today's 80-20 is Dawn Silk in the 13:55 at Plumpton.

I was particularly taken with the improved form that this pointer showed last time out at Warwick when finished third to Timpo in a Novice hurdle. The fourth-finished in that race has boosted the form by winning a fair race back at Warwick in a large field.

Eventually the larger obstacles beckon for this son of Zaffaran. He is out of a Deep Run broodmare so I think he will handle the underfoot conditions perfectly well and give us a sporting chance of landing the 80-20 at a big price.

Today's 80-20 finished unplaced

Yesterday's 80-20 finished unplaced: oh dear.

Benard B - you seem to be waging a vendetta against Nick! Is it anything personal?

  3. Keith Brett | 19 December 2007

Bernard B- I have asked you to offer up someone more talented to give us all a winning chance, at the moment Nick is one of my best options and obviously you have not found an alternative, if you had you would not be following his tips and wasting your time with your comments.

    Keith.

Merry Christmas to all at Betfair and those who use this company.

    Mr B,

Why not put your money where your mouth is and tell us *in advance* which selection of yours is better than Nick's?

  5. Lawrence | 19 December 2007

I did post a note tnanking Nick for his clearly well thought out tips. Out of interest I only do the 80% part of the bet and I agree Mr B and let Bernard B give us his tips in advance, horse racing is not and never will be an exact science but will remain an educated guess, Nick's guesses are some of the best I have heard over a long period of time

People like Bernard B will always be around, waiting to knock people when the tips dont do so well. These people tend to go missing when the tips are winning.
I have listened to Nick on the radio and he is a very good presenter and does give some good tips out on a regular basis.
I think one of the reasons Nick will attract some abuse will be because the people at Betfair have talked him up to be some sort of racing god with super powers. The racing post and pricewise are the same with there ridiculous claims that Pricewise is the worlds best tipping service. If you talk a tipster up in such an over the top way then all you are doing is building them up for one almighty fall. When that fall happens (and it will always happen) then they are there to be shot at.
As a presenter I think Nick is one of the best, reference the 80/20 on the website Im not overly impressed. It's just a case of finding a race with a market like :- 6/4, 3/1, 4/1, 8/1 and then a gap to the outsiders 20/1 bar. Nick just finds these races and goes for the 4/1 shot as a rule. This is a good tactic as every bet will have a great chance of placing and some will win but it does not make him The Golden goose of the tipping world and bets like these can be found by anyone with half a brain.

Whoever is having a go at Nick just sit on it.
Nick is one of the best if not not the best.
Mamy times i;am in truble and Nick is the only one to help me out.
I only wish i knew him personally.

    Hi Nick

Oscar Park has two chances today - slim to none - and slim just left town.

  9. Bernard B | 22 December 2007

sorry guys, I am not claiming to be the expert. Just tell me when his last 80/20 winner was? I don't mean to offend you all so much, surely as a blog this is a debate. Why are you all so enraged? I just don't get the sycophantic messages for Nick. Is this his extended family?

  10. Bernard B | 28 December 2007

Can anyone tell me when his last winner was?
