Philip Hobbs is extremely happy with the form of his Champion Hurdle contender Detroit City, after the five-year-old came through a strong piece of work on Tuesday.
The grey sparkled in a morning workout leaving Hobbs wishing the race was taking place at an earlier date.
"He had a serious gallop this morning, he went extremely well and we were very happy with that," he said.
"I just wish the race was next week and not three weeks away, that is the only worry really.
"It was a strong bit of work, which he wouldn't do more than twice a week, and at this stage he will only do it once a week and he just canters in between.
"I think everything about him says he is a champion, the form has worked out well, he is spot. We are obviously very happy with him and very, very hopeful.
"The strong bit of work went very well indeed and hopefully he will get to Cheltenham three weeks today," he told At The Races.
Detroit City is trading as low as 3.7 for the Champion Hurdle on March 13 ahead of the Irish challengers Brave Inca on 5.8 and Hardy Eustace on 6.6.
