Connections contact Betfair to protect ante-post punters
The connections of Sublimity walked the track and phoned Betfair to say the horse will not be running on Sunday as the ground is too heavy.
In accordance with our rules, we have left the horse in the market because it obviously can still possibly run and is still entered in the race.
But we have suspended the market, cancelled all unmatched bets, posted a forum announcement and re-opened with Sublimity at the bottom of the market.
Betfair would like to thank the connections of the horse, as they contacted us in a bid to protect ante-post punters in our markets.
On the back of Charlie Egerton's comments in the Racing Post today, I think this attitude reflects superbly on trainers and owners alike - and Betfair would welcome similar, and verifiable, approaches in the future.
