Nick's selections today are separated by 370 miles, running at racecourses at either end of the country.

The 2.10 at Newcastle today features Kealshore Boy who has been a real disappointment for me this season. At his current price [1.93] I am not interested in him at all. One horse that could go well at a big price is Kyoto Summit. This Lomitas gelding should come on for his latest run and I will be backing him win and place in this event.

Over at Exeter, Theatre Diva looks to have found an easy introduction in this Beginners' Chase running at 3.20. I really do not think the rest of the field is anything special and her astute trainer has placed this mare very well. At present she is trading at [2.08], and with a clear round she should be hard to beat.

Tuesday January 29th 2008

Nick Shiambouros' week of selections continues. Today, a familiar face at Taunton and one to watch at Southwell...

The 4.10 at Taunton features a horse I was interested in the other day, but was withdrawn by his trainer. Roll Along is my selection again for the same reasons as before. Currently, Roll Along is [3.05] for the win but i am going to wait until post time to strike my bet.

At Southwell there is a interesting card on display featuring plenty of in-form horses. One of those is Hits Only Jude who absolutely hacked up landing a huge gamble for connections. I do not see any reason for this horse not to follow that up so I will be backing him for the win in the 2.30. At present the choice is [2.08] for the win. I have backed him at this price and will step in again if he drifts more than half a point.

Another week of tips from our man begins at Ludlow and Wolverhampton with a back and a lay...

At Ludlow today Matuhi looks to have a solid chance in the 3.30. This Dansili gelding made more than a satisfactory debut when running a decent second in a similar event. I suspect Matuhi could be the subject of a gamble to win this and is currently trading at [3.8] on the exchange. Alan King's Ouzbek is trading at [2.64] and has to give plenty of weight away and I cant see him trading a lot shorter.

Over at Wolverhampton in the 3.40, Machinate is currently [3.0] and at this price I will be opposing him. He is bred to win a Classic and cost a fortune as a yearling but was sold for a song at the sales. With a poor win-to-run ratio added for good measure and with at least three legitimate contenders I will be laying Machinate today.
