Can Twist Magic spring a surprise on Saturday?

A thrilling week of top class racing beckons with action from Fairyhouse, Kempton, Exeter and a Sandown meeting that remains one of the highlights of the jumps season. Andrew Hughes brings us the details.

Sunday November 29

Fairyhouse

1:00 Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle
The roll call of winners of this race is pretty impressive, including Hurricane Fly, Newmill, Hardy Eustace and Moscow Flyer. It's a two-mile Grade One hurdle and the going is likely to be on the heavy side so it could turn into a bit of a slog. Philip Fenton's Dunguib has looked thoroughly impressive on both of his outings this season and should take all the beating.

1:30 Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase
Another Grade One, this time over two-and-a-half-miles and stamina is likely to be a key factor in finding the winner here. Edward O'Grady's Pesoto was impressive on his chasing debut but faces some stiff opposition here including Alpha Ridge from the Paul Nolan stable and Noel Meade's Jered.

2:05 Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle
A top class Grade One event, run over two-and-a-half miles that includes two previous winners in Aitmatov and Catch Me and old favourite Hardy Eustace, still plodding on at the age of 12. Tom Taafe's six-year-old Coral Cup winner Ninetieth Minute finished behind Aitmatov last time but should be better for that run.

Kempton

3:45 Hyde Stakes
A couple of Listed events to enliven a Sunday's racing, the first this mile contest, which features several horses that have been tried at Group level. Marco Botti's 104 rated Re Barolo is arguably the pick of the entries, boasting an impressive 7 wins from 20 starts on the all-weather.

4:15 Wild Flower Stakes
A twelve-furlong contest with some classy horses on show. Saphira's Fire from the Willie Muir stable ran in some hot races this summer, including the Nassau Stakes and having proven herself on the all-weather on her first ever outing, she should attract plenty of support in the market.

Friday December 4

Exeter

1:35 Harry Dutfield Memorial Novices' Chase
An interesting race, run over just half a furlong short of two-and-a-half miles, the going is likely to be on the soft side and the pronounced undulations of this course should offer a stiff test. Look out for some promising chasers from the top jumps stables.

Sandown

2:00 Betinternet.Com Winter Novices' Hurdle
The opening day of the Tingle Creek meeting features this Grade Two contest for staying novices that has been won by the likes of Inglis Drever and Neptune Collognes

2:35 Betinternet.Com Future Stars Chase Intermediate
Recently promoted to Listed status, this is a three-mile-and-half-a-furlong event that has gone to some classy animals, including Impek, Star de Mohaison and Looks Like Trouble and is essential viewing for punters and race fans alike.

A Grade Two run over two miles that usually attracts a small field but is traditionally one of the more revealing novice events for those looking for future stars.

2:25 Keith Prowse Hospitality Tingle Creek Chase
The Tingle Creek is a two-miler of the highest class with a fine pedigree and one of the traditional highlights of the jump season that has seen some epic battles. Master Minded is not likely to line up but his absence has opened up the market, with current favourite Big Zeb available at [2.42], Arkle winner Forpadydeplasterer at [8.0], the mercurial Twist Magic at [5.5] and veteran Well Chief around [5.3]

3:00 Best Odds Guaranteed At betinternet.com Handicap Hurdle
A competitive Listed hurdle over two miles-and-half-a-furlong that offers an interesting challenge for punters to get their teeth into, as the usual mixture of hardened handicappers and highly progressive horses got to post.

3:30 betinternet.com London National Chase
A Class Two handicap of three-miles-five-and-a-half-furlongs that was relaunched under this new name last year. The extra prize money on offer attracted a decent sized field and we can hope for the same this time round. It is a race worth watching in its own right and for clues for the Welsh National and the Grand National itself.
