Three-year-old colt storms to victory with a confident run in the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris.

Montmarte put up a scintillating performance to win the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp last night - and some Betfair punters are now dreaming of a massive Arc payout after securing three-figure prices on the grey.

Montmartre has traded as high as [320.0] on Betfair to win the Arc over the same course and distance in October, with £135 matched on him at odds of [100.00] or more on the exchange.

Ridden confidently by Christophe Soumillon, Montmartre, the son of Montjeu, accelerated off a strong pace and came home easily.

The performance was impressive enough to mark him out as the most formidable three-year-old colt this season. Punters have been taken aback by his improvement since finishing 15th in the Prix du Jockey-club last month.

That failure was blamed on nerves and although the colt seemed apprehensive before last night's race, Christophe Soumillon produced an assured ride and there were no signs of jitters in an impressive rout of the field.

Afterwards Soumillon said: "He's a perfect sort for the Arc and he was born to win the race."

Such conviction has found favour amongst punters with Montmarte now [5.9] favourite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 5th.
