Beef or Salmon has been declared alongside 18 other runner's for Friday's Gold Cup with the 11-year-old having his fifth crack at the famous contest.
The one-time 'Great Irish Hope' has failed to live up to expectations and has twice finished pulled up in the race, disappointed last year and came closest in 2004 when finishing fourth behind Best Mate.
However, co-owner Jo Craig believes the wetter than usual conditions can play to the strengths of the Michael Hourigan-trained gelding.
"He's been there four times I think and he hasn't run all that well," said Mr Craig.
"The big problem with Cheltenham is the ground always dries up at this time of year. He doesn't like firm ground - he would prefer to be running through the muck.
"But this year the ground might not be too bad. It might suit him a bit better, so we're hoping for the best.
"We're hoping he runs well and he has a chance alright, but you need a bit of luck on the day."
Beef Or Salmon is currently trading at 24 for the race due off on Friday at 15:15. The market is dominated by Kauto Star on 2.98, with Cheltenham specialist Exotic Dancer next best on 6.
