Tom Dascombe is looking forward to the weekend's racing

In the latest in our series of trainer interviews, we caught up with Tom Dascombe and Ralph Beckett to discuss the pick of their runners this weekend.

He has a good draw - Saturday, 15:30, Windsor - has won twice over course and distance and I am hopeful of a very big run.

Tom Dascombe

Jonny Mudball 4yo bay colt
Timeform Rating 100
Formfigures 12-6022

Jonny Mudball must have a good chance in the 6f handicap at Newcastle [Saturday, 14.30]. He looks well drawn and is still on a fair mark despite going up 1lb for his second at Doncaster. Conditions will suit him well, he keeps knocking on the door and I am convinced there is a nice race to be won with him at some stage.

Party Doctor 3yo chestnut colt
Timeform Rating 107?
Formfigures 3324-16

Party Doctor goes in the Listed race at Windsor [Saturday, 14.55] and I was a bit worried it might be too competitive. As it has worked out, there are only six declared and it isn't as strong as it could have been. If he runs to the best of his two-year-old form, like his fourth in the Acomb, or even his third in the Chesham, then he should go well. He has been a bit disappointing this year but I don't think he stayed at Chester and this drop back in trip will help.

Transvaal Sky 3yo bay/brown filly
Timeform Rating 90
Formfigures 6145-8

We run Transvaal Sky in the fillies handicap at Newmarket [Saturday, 16.30] and I wish I knew whether stall 2 was a good draw or not - it does seem to change all the time at Newmarket. I am sure she is well handicapped now though and if she runs to the level she showed at Newmarket as a 2yo, she must go well. You can ignore her first run this year as she hates soft ground and our horses are running better now than they were at the time.

Brouhaha 6yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 88+
Formfigures 28-0861

Brouhaha surprised us a little bit when he won at Windsor last time as we had either made the running or ridden him prominently in his previous 21 starts for us. He missed the break at Windsor though so had to be dropped in and it seemed to suit him well. He wouldn't want the ground too quick so hopefully they have put enough water down. He goes well at Wolverhampton which is a similar track layout so Chester [Saturday, 17.25] shouldn't be a problem, and he settles so well that I don't think the extra furlong will be a worry.

Ralph Beckett

Olynard 4yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 98
Formfigures 3110-30

Olynard proved he liked Windsor last year and this race [Saturday, 15.30] has been the plan for him for some time. Whether he will be quite good enough only time will tell, but he has everything in his favour and you can't ask for more in a valuable handicap. I felt his run at Epsom last time showed he had come forward from his reappearance as although he was only tenth, he ran a bit better than that in what was a hot race. He has a good draw this time, has won twice over course and distance and I am hopeful of a very big run.

Right Said Fred 2yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 50p
Formfigures 8

There was quite a lot of rain about when Right Said Fred made his debut and it wouldn't have suited him at all. I felt it was better to try and get a run into him though, even though we knew our fate going into the race. He will have come on a lot for the run and the better ground will suit him [Windsor 14.25, Saturday] - I don't know if he will be good enough to beat the Hannon horse [Dr Green] but he will certainly run a good deal better than at Leicester and he shouldn't be far away.

Timeform View

Jonny Mudball hasn't had much go his way since his promising reappearance but he has plenty in his favour at Newcastle on Saturday and it is surely only a matter of time before he gains his first turf win. He has a good draw, handles conditions well and his latest second at Doncaster looks a solid effort.
