Tom Dascombe talked to Betfair about his horses' chances this weekend...
We caught up with Tom Dascombe and Michael Jarvis to look at the pick of their runners over the weekend.
"On paper, Saturday's 14:15 at Goodwood is the easiest race Jonny Mudball has run this season and if you can forgive that last run, he must go there with a great chance."

Blue Jack 5yo bay gelding

He has been better than ever since Newmarket, really blossoming at home and working very well. My one slight concern would be very fast ground as I wouldn't be sure he wants it that quick, but the GoingStick reading is 7.1 which I always think equates to nearer good. If that is the case and the ground isn't too quick I would be delighted and he would have to go very close.
Jonny Mudball 4yo bay colt
Goodwood, 14:15, Saturday
Timeform Rating 101
Formfigures 412-60
I am trying him in a tonguestrap this time because although you could blame the draw and the ground last time, I wasn't ever really happy with the way he travelled. On paper, this is the easiest race he has run in so far this season and if you can forgive that last run, he must go there with a great chance.

After coming over from Germany having cost a few quid, she has so far been bitterly disappointing. We needed to get a third run into her for a mark and 7f at Leicester probably wasn't ideal, so this will provide a better idea of what we have. I have put the visor on her as she looked to be idling at Leicester and hopefully we will see a bit more this time.
Addock and Egg 2yo bay colt

He was in the stall for ages on his debut, then missed the break and it was race over after that. He is much better than that though and he has done well at home since. I would expect him to do a lot better this time.
Classic Gem 2yo brown filly

She ran inexplicably badly at Bath on her debut but lots of my horses have run badly on their debut this year. She works like a good horse at home and it could be that like Julius Geezer, she will get it together on the track with experience. You couldn't back her with confidence given how she ran first time, but I also can't believe she isn't good enough to win a maiden.
Michael Jarvis
Beyond Desire 3yo bay filly
Haydock, 15:30, Saturday
Timeform Rating 105p
Formfigures 124-
She showed very good form last year and her second to Lady Of The Desert in the Lowther Stakes [Group 2] stood up very well. We took her up to Ayr in September and the way the draw worked out, we may as well have stayed at home. Anything drawn on the stands' side had no chance and she ran well in fourth all things considered. She suffered a hairline crack in her pelvis after that and it put an end to her 2yo campaign, but she has done plenty of work since coming back in. The programme for 3yo fillies is very tough at this stage so this looked the obvious starting point for her and she has been trained with the race in mind. I would stress that she will come on for the run, but she is a robust filly who has taken her work well and if she runs to last year's form, she would have to have a favourite's chance.
Decorative 3yo bay filly
Leicester, 16:00, Monday
Timeform Rating 97P
Formfigures 1-
She is in the conditions race at Leicester on Monday [16:00] but we will have to have a look nearer the time. The race looks a penalty kick for Seta, so I wouldn't want to risk what I think is a good handicap mark. She will be entered in a few handicaps later on in the week and is most likely to go wherever there has been some rain.
Ellbeedee 3yo bay filly
Timeform Rating 75p
Formfigures 0-2
Hight Ransom 3yo bay filly
Timeform Rating 59
Formfigures 7-9
Leicester, 17:00, Monday
I have a couple of possibles for this staying maiden. Ellbeedee is a stoutly-bred filly who ran well when second at Warwick earlier in the month. She will appreciate this longer trip but being by Dalakhani, she would prefer a bit of give in the ground. High Ransom is another possible but he/she could be more interesting later in the year over 14f/2m handicaps.

Blue Jack did comfortably the best of those held up in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket last time, proving he was well up to Pattern company in the process. He should get much closer to Equiano this time and is unlikely to be far away. Beyond Desire's Lowther second worked out very well and although a peak-form Anglezarke would give her something to think about, that rival has yet to fire for her new stable.
