Timeform have selected two horses to avoid...
"the effect of headgear has seemingly been wearing off recently"
The Mick Channon-trained Finest Reserve benefited from the application of a visor when gaining the one and only win of his career earlier this term, but the effect of headgear has seemingly been wearing off recently. The figures suggest that Finest Reserve has been running with credit lately, yet he has looked reluctant and awkward to varying degrees on each of his last three starts. His attitude was most pronounced on his penultimate outing at Goodwood, as he was reluctant to break from the stalls before hanging right under pressure up the straight. Finest Reserve's awkward tendencies make him one to be wary of for win purposes.
Fishforcompliments has long had a reputation for achieving less than he is capable of on the racecourse, and has become particularly adept at the art of finishing second over the years. He was seemingly sparked by cheekpieces on his penultimate start at York, producing his best performance for a while, but perfectly illustrating why he has the Timeform squiggle when throwing the race away late on. He looked all set to gain his first success for over a year, but conceded victory to his only challenger when hanging left close home. His latest start further emphasised his attitude issues. He needed early reminders after rearing at the start, and made little impression thereafter. Fishforcompliments is certainly one to be wary of.
