Fantastic duel between Guineas rivals sees Gosden's colt matched low before being caught in the final strides
Raven's Pass looked on course to assume 2,000 Guineas favouritism when sent to the front in today's Craven Stakes at Newmarket, at which stage he traded at [1.04] in-running on Betfair to significant sums, with Twice Over drifting to [24.0].
But Twice Over, matched at a high of [300.0] in Betfair's 2,000 Guineas ante-post market, battled back for the narrow win. He is now [6.5] for the Guineas on Betfair.
Betfair punters believe that New Approach is the big winner though, and he has finally shortened in the exchange betting into [4.5], having been as high as [5.5] last week when some firms were offering just 2-1 about the unbeaten Dewhurst winner.
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "Despite the front two pulling clear, the lack of a clear-cut winner has finally seen the hitherto friendless New Approach shorten in the Betfair betting, albeit only into 7-2."
