Royal Ascot Betting Day Four: Multipes warfare Part IV

Royal Ascot Betting RSS / Joe Dyer / 18 June 2009 / Leave a comment

They may be big men but they're showing no signs of fatigue as Ascot heads into its fourth day...

Big Mac says: "A lot of people keep saying I'm full of hot air - and plenty more besides - but I am certainly flying after day two saw me bang in winners at [5.0] and [5.5]. I hope you had the double on Betfair Multiples. Unfortunately, that imposter for a BBC betting pundit Gary Wiltshire copied me and had them too - Betfair must have lost a fortune on the double - but I will pull clear of day four."

Albany Stakes (2.30)

American Wesley Ward has been dominating the 2yo races here - only women that I try to kiss run faster than his filly Jealous Again did here on Wednesday - and the rumour is Aegean is the best of the bunch. The others will still be coming out of the stalls when this one is going past the finishing line - she will be about a [2.5] chance.

Coronation Stakes (3.45)

Jean Claude Rouget has been in sensational form in France but I reckon Barry Hills, among the winners here on Wednesday, can bring him down a peg or two by saddling Ghanaati to beat Elusive Wave. Ghanaati is around a [3.3] chance and that looks very tempting considering how impressive she was in winning the 1,000 Guineas. The fact that Barry kept the filly for this race - opting not to run her in the Oaks - is another positive, too.

Wolferton Handicap (4.20)

I think the Garlic, sorry Gallic, raiders will have a winner on the Friday card though as Mores Wells catches my eye in the 1m2f handicap, French horses rarely come over for Ascot handicaps and this ex-Irish horse has been doing a bit of globetrotting recently, and he looks very nicely weighted if returning to anything likes his winning form in Ireland in 2008.

Lay of the Day

Black Bear Island sweated up badly before the Derby and that may have been the reason for his poor display. But it is a big ask for him to bounce back here so soon after and at [4.0] he looks too short to me; the form of his Dante win is also questionable, too.

* * *

Gary Wiltshire says: "I gave you two winners on Wednesday at [5.0] and [5.5], so I hope you all had a good night with the winnings. The only downside was finding out that Big Mac had tipped the same two as me - if he wasn't so stupid I would have sworn he had tapped into my emails to steal the best tipping advice money can buy. But we all know he cant even tie his shoelaces (or see them for that matter) without the Booby so he clearly just got lucky.

"My class is permanent though, so here goes for Friday's good things..."

King Edward VII Stakes (3.05)

I fancied Black Bear Island for the Derby but he got worked up before the race and probably lost his chance before going in the stalls. I was really impressed by the way he came from behind to win the Dante; he is [4.0] here and if he hadn't of run at Epsom he would be a [2.2] chance in this field.

Coronation Stakes (3.45)

Ghanaati was undeniably impressive in winning the 1,000 Guineas but Jean Claude Rouget is the best trainer in the world just now and Elusive Wave is the form horse in this race on her French Guineas win.

Queen's Vase (4.55)

Dhushan runs in this 2m race instead of the King Edward VII Stakes and I have taken the hint. She could go off around [4.0] or [4.5] mark and that looks a very fair price to me after his impressive Chepstow maiden win. He can cope with this rise in class.

Lay of the Day

I think everyone is getting carried away with Wesley Ward and the Amercan 2yos; Aegean may be rumoured to be the best of the bunch but at [2.3] I will be taking it on. Down with the septics!
