Though Bolger's horse is as short as 7-4 with one bookmaker
New Approach is as short as 7-4 with one bookmaker to win next month's 2,000 Guineas - but he is currently over twice that price on Betfair, where the horse trades at [5.2] to back and [5.3] to lay this afternoon.
Quite why there is such bullish opposition to the unbeaten Dewhurst winner is hard to ascertain, but it could simply be that the race is far more competitive than the traditional layers (some of whom may have significant ante-post liabilities) believe.
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin observed: "There has been a steady lengthening of New Approach's price on Betfair in recent weeks, but perhaps that is none too surprising given that the connections of the other leading contenders are all reportedly very confident of Guineas success, too.
"If they all get to the race fit and fancied, it could easily be one of the better class Guineas of recent years - and New Approach may well be nearer 4-1 than 2-1 on the day, anyway."
