Familar scenes as Clive Smith, Ruby Walsh and Paul Nicholls gather round Kauto Star to celebrate yet another memorable win.
The in-running betting summary on Betfair of Kauto Star's third Betfair Chase win...
Kauto Star drifted to odds of [4.4] when Betfair re-opened the market as a result of a photo finish with Imperial Commander in this afternoon's Betfair Chase, but eventually won it.
It looked like the double Gold Cup winner had the race sewn up as he cleared the last ahead of his rival and traded at just 1.06 on the exchange but the Paddy Brennan-ridden horse showed plenty of guts and determination to come storming back at him.
Imperial Commander looked like he'd actually done enough to punish Kauto's backers, who had offered plenty of odds-against prices earlier in the week, and indeed when the market was re-opened he was always the favourite, trading as low as 1.2 on the exchange. But it wasn't to be and Kauto Star wrapped up a third Betfair Chase, this one by far the toughest and closest of the three.
After the race jockey Ruby Walsh said:
"He always digs this horse - he's an incredible horse. He feels as good as last year.
"I did think we were beaten and the second is an improving horse. He just got tired going to the last and then he has dug deep to hang on"

I watched the race, and also thought Imperial Commander had just pipped Kauto Star over the finish line. Certainly made for exciting racing
