Blue Bunting was backed at maximum odds in Betfair's 1000 Guineas ante-post market before stunning rivals to win the big race at Newmarket on Sunday afternoon.

A total of £16 was placed on the Godolphin runner in the build up to the prestigous mile race and she touched [40.0] in-running.

Memory went off as favourite but faltered at the start and Moonlight Cloud couldn't find the momentum to get out of the pack.

Together - backed in to evens in-running - and Maqaasid [1.68] were the font runners and played out an absorbing duel for much of the race. However, Blue Bunting, ridden by Frankie Dettori, managed to dig deep late on, charging up the inside to overhaul the front-runners in the final two furlongs.

She had been considered more of a contender for the Oaks and, even following this victory, Dettori said that he believes she will be better suited to the Epsom race.
