Raven's Pass drifts out to 5-1 for the 2,000 Guineas
The form of Infallible's Nell Gwyn win may have been given a minor boost when the Newmarket fourth Rosaleen won at Ascot this afternoon, but it is Natagora that is all the rage with Betfair punters in the 1,000 Guineas market. The French filly is now the clear [4.5] favourite.
Significant support has also arrived for Savethisdanceforme. She was [15.0] yesterday afternoon, but has been backed in to [10.0] on the exchange.
New Approach was happily trading at over [5.0] on Betfair for the 2,000 Guineas three weeks ago. But an upbeat bulletin (for his 2,000 Guineas backers at least) from connections, allied to Craven winner Twice Over bypassing the race and the ground apparently turning against some of his main rivals, has seen him harden into [3.0].
But Raven's Pass has started to drift, and is out to [6.2].
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "New Approach is arguably only as low as 2-1 favourite by default, and there certainly isn't a lot of money queuing up to back him. And it wouldn't surprise were Ibn Khaldun to assume second favouritism on our market before too long.
"In contrast, there has been significant interest in Natagora and Savethisdanceforme today.
"It would appear that the weather forecast is driving the ante-post markets, rather than form or fitness."
