The last day of racing at Goodwood promises to be a cracker
"Favourites have a good record in the race with six winners from the last 10 runnings and Irish raider Misty For Me is the likely favourite for trainer Aidan O’Brien, who also has a good record in the race with winners in 2007 and 2008."
The final day of Glorious Goodwood on Saturday and once again our stats expert David Stewart previews two races on the card from a statistical perspective.
BIG RACE
Blue Square Stewards' Cup (Heritage Handicap) (3yo+, Class 2, 6f, 28 runners)
FLASHSTATS:
It's a 28 runner race that feels like a 1,000 piece jigsaw! The Stewards' Cup is a 6f cavalry charge that is often described as a bookies benefit but the favourite strike-rate is actually quite favourable, with two winners from the last 10 years.
Horses drawn middle to high have enjoyed the edge over the recent years so with the renumbering of stalls this year, make that middle to low.
Four and five-year-olds have been prevalent and a prior win coming into the race is a disadvantage.
David Nicholls, the sprint king, has the best trainers' record.
Victoire De Lyphar, Edinburgh Knight and Fitz Flyer all get ticks in race
