Nicholls' horse touches 2.6 amid whispers over health
The rumour mill was going into overdrive this afternoon, with Denman drifting out to [2.6] on Betfair to win the Lexus Chase.
But, with Paul Nicholls issuing a statement that the horse is "100 per cent", betting sanity has been partially restored and he is back into [1.59] on the exchange.
Nicholls confirmed that the horse coughed after the Hennessy, but is fine now.
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "As you would expect at this stage, betting is very light.
"Denman was undoubtedly far too short at 1-3 with some other bookmakers, but I certainly wouldn't want to be sitting on a lay of Denman for the Lexus at 13-8. Punters are often far too willing to react to gossip and rumour."
