The mighty Frankel makes it nine in the QEII
Racing's superstar, Frankel, extended his unbeaten record to nine with a comfortable success in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday...
The Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt wanted to go a little faster than his rider Tom Queally seemed to care for through the early stages as the field largely ignored Frankel's pacemaker, Bullet Train, but when Frankel was given his head before halfway he soon strode to the head of the chasing pack.
After getting to the pacemaker, Queally pushed the button and Frankel stamped his authority to pull clear of his rivals in a matter of strides, going on to score a four-length victory over the Marco Botti-trained Excelebration, who was finishing behind Frankel for the third time this season.
Frankel returned a Betfair SP of [1.40] and recorded a time of 1.39.45.
The following race, the Qipco Champion Stakes, didn't go to script, however, as Cirrus des Aigles ([16.5]) struck a blow for France. Aidan O'Brien's So You Think was a very well- backed favourite at [2.84] but he had no answers then the French-trained gelding pulled upsides under Cristophe Soumillon, Cirrus des Aigles going on to record a course-record time of 2.02.52.
Earlier on the card, Aidan O'Brien's Ascot Gold Cup winner, Fame And Glory ([4.5]), put a couple of disppointing performances behind him with a one-and-a-quarter length victory over Opinion Poll in the Long Distance Cup.
Also, jockey Johnny Murtagh secured a Group 2 double as Deacon Blues ([3.55]) ran out an impressive winner of the Sprint Stakes before Epsom Oaks winner Dancing Rain ([7.6]) landed an all-the-way success in the Fillies' And Mares' Stakes.

It seems like a big fuss was made about sectional timing but can I find the results anywhere? - No is the short answer. No matter where I look be it where it should be (Racing Post) or here or even on google. Maybe I haven't searched enough but its not in the obvious places. I don't think it'll ever take off in this country as no-one wants to properly back it. Very disappointing.
